FAQs

  • As a clinic policy, patients that have not seen their family doctor in the past 3 years are inactivated as per Alberta Health recommendations. Please ensure that you continue to touch base with your family doctor regularly to prevent this. It is good practice to see your family doctor about once per year for your annual periodic health screens or full physicals even if things are going well.

  • Alberta Health requires that your family doctor’s list of patients (also known as “panel”) be kept up to date so that it reflects only the patients that actively see the family doctor. There are many reasons for this and include (but are not limited to) the following:

    1. Active rosters encourage existing patients to be an active partner and participant in their own healthcare in coordination with their primary family doctor. This partnership yields more chances at appropriate preventative care and screening maneuvers, leading to better patient health outcomes.

    2. Funding for regional healthcare programming and patient access to these programs is tied to an active patient roster.

    3. Accurate active rosters allow a physician to know if a patient has moved away or decided to roster themselves with another family doctor.
